Trump Welcomes Potential Kennedy Jr. Support: “It Would Be an Honor”

In a recent interview with Forbes, former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his admiration for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the potential for Kennedy’s campaign to endorse him as he gears up for the presidential election scheduled for next November. ‘I would love to have his support. I have always liked him,’ Trump remarked, highlighting his respect for Kennedy as ‘a unique, very intelligent person.’ Trump even hinted at the possibility of offering Kennedy a position in his prospective second term, conveying that such an endorsement would be a profound honor. Furthermore, he proclaimed the backing of billionaire Elon Musk, deeming it quite significant amidst the ‘lies’ circulated about him.

On the other side of the political landscape, Kennedy’s independent presidential campaign is weighing its options, including the prospect of withdrawing from the race to align with Trump’s campaign. Nicole Shanahan, Kennedy’s vice-presidential candidate, shared these insights on the podcast “Impact Theory,” revealing that they could potentially form a new political party or join forces with Trump to avert a Democratic victory that could arise from splitting the vote.

Kennedy’s campaign has not been without its tribulations. It recently faced legal troubles when New York officials barred him from running in the state, challenging his claim of residency. As the trial unfolded, Kennedy reiterated his intention to return to New York after living in California. Moreover, Kennedy’s approval ratings had dipped significantly after President Biden’s announcement in July that he would not seek re-election, leaving Kennedy struggling to carve out space for his message amid the fierce partisan competition between Democrats and Republicans. Despite starting the year with respectable polls, the political landscape is shifting, making his path to the presidency increasingly difficult.
