In a harrowing display of brutality, two brothers, Mohammad and Mehdi Khodakarami, political prisoners in Iran, were violently transferred to the quarantine section of Khorramabad Central Prison on March 4, 2025. On the same day, another political prisoner, Kamran Rezaeifar, aged 59, faced degrading treatment as he was shackled to his hospital bed following major stomach surgery. Despite his dire medical state, he was returned to Evin Prison shortly thereafter. Kamran’s health had been deteriorating since November 2024, exacerbated by authorities denying necessary medical care.
Ebrahim Khalil Sedighi, 66, is another political prisoner whose health has critically worsened. Recently transferred to Urmia Prison, he is forced to endure harsh conditions on the floor, suffering from severe diabetes that has resulted in infections and amputations. Sedighi was sentenced to 19 years in prison for charges related to his involvement with the PMOI and speaking against the regime.
The Iranian Resistance has called upon international bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council, to take immediate action against the mistreatment of political prisoners and to ensure the release of those in urgent medical need, highlighting the appalling conditions these individuals face within the Iranian prison system.
