Oroville Health Expo: A Community Journey Towards Wellness

OROVILLE — The Path to Power: Oroville Health Expo is set to unite local medical professionals, fitness trainers, and martial arts instructors to educate the community on achieving and maintaining wellness. This free event, organised by Cultivate Power Fighting Arts Martial Arts School, takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Southside Community Center, located at 2959 Lower Wyandotte Road.

Darrell Thompson, the event organiser and owner of Cultivate Power, expressed his excitement about the gathering, stating, “We have a tremendous resource of health professionals here. My biggest intent with this event is to introduce people to the wealth of knowledge that’s here and to show them that they have access to all of these professionals right here in their own town.”

This four-hour expo will feature various vendors, a delightful Farm to Fork food truck, and a raffle. Attendees can expect an impressive line-up of speakers representing diverse wellness fields, all promoting a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Among the speakers is Paul Hunt, a clinical exercise physiologist at Adventist Health, who will discuss pulmonary cardiovascular risk factors and the important role of exercise in maintaining health. Other notable speakers include Peggy Parker from Ultimate Balance Massage Therapy and Sarah Whittenburg, head pharmacist at Ampla Health, along with Alan Riley, a chiropractor and yoga instructor.

Veronica Vancleave-Hunt, a nutrition and food security adviser, will co-present with Shari Carrillo, focusing on innovative nutrition strategies for improving students’ health. “We’ll be talking about farm to school as a way to help elementary students eat more fruits and vegetables and promote a healthy lifestyle habit,” Vancleave-Hunt noted.

Kristy Lopez, of Kristy’s Personal Training, will share insights on personal training and its benefits in enhancing individual quality of life. Leslie Collins from Oroville Yoga Center will focus on addressing fascial issues to boost mobility and relieve pain. “I’m very excited about the expo,” Collins said.

Beyond the speakers, attendees can interact with several vendors including Planet Fitness and Amanda Livermore with her organic wellness boxes. “We just really want to show people how simple it is to take care of, to prioritise your health,” Thompson emphasised.
