The Réseau Camerounais des Organisations des Droits de l’Homme (RECODH) stands as a beacon for human rights advocacy in Cameroon. This registered network of associations tirelessly champions the promotion and protection of human rights and governance through various means, including sensitisation, capacity building, and extensive networking. RECODH provides essential support to individual human rights defenders facing danger, ensuring they have a voice and resources in challenging circumstances.
RECODH’s efforts are strategically concentrated in three vital areas: human rights, governance, and social cohesion. Notably, their “Réseau pour la Cohésion: FDS, OSC et communautés en synergie pour la sécurité humaine, la prévention des violences basées sur le genre (VBG)” program addresses the pressing issue of social cohesion in conflict-ridden regions. This three-year initiative actively engages in regions such as East, Adamaoua, North, and Far North, where insecurity and humanitarian crises create dire challenges, concentrating on the intersection of human rights and conflict resolution.
By fostering dialogue between security forces, civil society organisations, and local communities, RECODH plays a crucial role in addressing gender-based violence, especially as military responses to instability are often fraught with complexities. Through these collaborative efforts, RECODH not only aims to strengthen the communities but also to build a robust platform where information sharing and mutual support flourish, ultimately leading to a more cohesive society.
RECODH is a network of organisations in Cameroon dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights and governance. They focus on education, support, and advocacy while concentrating on human rights, governance, and social cohesion. Their key programme, addressing gender-based violence, aims to enhance social unity in regions affected by conflict and humanitarian crises.
RECODH serves as an essential force in promoting human rights and governance in Cameroon, operating through education, support, and advocacy. Their targeted programs, such as the “Réseau pour la Cohésion,” address the intricate challenges posed by conflict and social discord, especially regarding gender-based violence. By uniting various stakeholders, RECODH ensures a collective effort in safeguarding human rights and fostering harmony in vulnerable regions.
