As India gears up for Republic Day, the upcoming parade promises a vibrant exhibition featuring 18 marching contingents, 15 bands, and stunning tableaux from 31 states and Union territories. State Highlights and Themes
Andhra Pradesh is thrilled to present its tableau, themed “Etikoppaka Bommalu — Eco-Friendly Wooden Toys,” focusing on local craftsmanship. Displaying a 14-foot Vinayaka statue alongside artisans at work, the tableau embodies the spirit and artistry of Etikoppaka.
Uttarakhand’s creation will explore its heritage and adventure tourism narrative, notably through Aipan art, which holds significant social meaning. The tableau will also feature thrilling scenes of trekking and snow skiing, positioning Uttarakhand as an adventure hotspot.
Bihar aims to showcase its scholarly and peaceful legacy with representations of legendary sites like the Ghora Katora statue of Lord Buddha and Nalanda Mahavihara. The tableau emphasizes the state’s commitment to cultural education and global engagement.
Jharkhand’s exhibit will pay tribute to late businessman Ratan Tata while highlighting traditional dance forms and women’s growing role in education. This tableau reflects the state’s developmental journey alongside its rich cultural roots.
Additional states—Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and others—will also present their unique tableaux under the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” illustrating India’s cultural milestones over the last 75 years.
Celebrating Women and Innovation
The Union ministry for women and child development marks a return with a tableau commemorating the achievements of women in development, coinciding with significant anniversaries of their initiatives. Their efforts shine a light on the government’s focus on early childhood care and nutrition programs.
In a notable first, the India Meteorological Department will showcase its evolved forecasting capabilities in its 150th-anniversary tableau, emphasizing advancements in cyclone prediction and rainfall forecasting. This marks a stride in recognizing significant milestones in India’s governance alongside cultural festivities.
