Los Alamos Health, Wellness and Resource Fair: Connecting Community Resources

Los Alamos is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for the Health, Wellness, and Resource Fair on May 3, hosted at the spacious United Church of Los Alamos from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) orchestrated this gathering to disseminate crucial information on health resources following their popular free suicide prevention trainings. C’YA Executive Director Bernadette Lauritzen shared that when they proposed the idea to 100 Men Who Care, it was embraced wholeheartedly.

This fair serves as an essential platform for local non-profits to connect with the community, especially with a fresh influx of residents who are still discovering the wealth of resources available. While Lauritzen doesn’t aim to replicate the grandeur of pre-Covid fairs, the event promises to be impactful and informative, featuring various local organisations.

Attending the fair will be notable participants like the Los Alamos Medical Center, Christus St. Vincent’s Clinics, and several local youth and social service programmes. “It was important for us to have representation to address all ages,” Lauritzen noted, ensuring that there will be activities for children and information on nutrition, food support, and innovative Tinnitus treatments.

For those grappling with addiction, resources from the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line will be present, offering 24-hour support. Their programs are detailed at www.nmcrisisline.com under the New Mexico 5-Actions Program.

Attendees can look forward to handouts on community events, senior services, women’s issues, voting, and mental health, with opportunities for local businesses to shine. Those interested in participating can reach out via email at cya.org@att.net. Additionally, the fair will celebrate Mother’s Day with special offerings for mothers while also promoting the upcoming Great American Grump Out on May 7 at Ashley Pond, where attendees can find goodies and uplifting resources to banish any grumpiness.

On May 3, Los Alamos will host a Health, Wellness, and Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Church. Organised by C’YA, the fair aims to provide crucial health information and resources, featuring participation from various local organisations. There will be activities for all ages and resources for addiction support available, as well as community handouts.

The Health, Wellness, and Resource Fair in Los Alamos promises to be a vibrant event bringing essential health services and community resources together. C’YA’s initiative highlights the importance of awareness and support among local residents, particularly for those who are new to the area. With dedicated participation from various organisations and a focus on engaging all ages, this fair will undoubtedly serve as a vital connection hub for the community.
