Fujian Showcases Cultural and Economic Potential at Madrid Conference

On April 8, 2025, Madrid played host to the “Refreshing Fujian” Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference and the “Invest in Fujian” Economic and Trade Conference, an initiative backed by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government. Organised by key departments including Culture and Tourism, Commerce, and Foreign Affairs, this significant event intended to showcase Fujian’s rich cultural heritage and economic potential.

Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, presented the province’s competitive advantages in the contemporary era. He warmly encouraged the attendees to visit Fujian, promising a first-hand experience of the region’s dynamic spirit and the benefits of engaging with China’s modernisation.

The event gathered over 300 guests, including notable figures from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the City of Madrid, and the Chinese Embassy in Spain. A significant highlight was the agreement signed between the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Fujian’s cultural and tourism body, and Fujian Normal University, aimed at establishing Fujian as a globally recognised tourist destination. Additionally, 22 collaborative projects covering culture, tourism, economy, and trade were formalised between Fujian and Spain.

Three specially tailored travel routes were introduced for European citizens, offering UNESCO Heritage Exploration, a Global Hub of Tea, and Cultural Diversity, emphasising the alluring aspects of “Refreshing Fujian.” The event concluded on an exhilarating note with artistic performances that highlighted the cultural intersections of both nations, celebrating their shared legacies and artistic expressions.
