The Art of Making exhibition, part of the European Days of Arts and Crafts, celebrates the talents of craftsmen from Berlin and Paris. Featuring diverse creations—from imaginative furniture designs to intricate jewellery—the exhibition showcases the depth of craftsmanship that surpasses mere tradition. Running from April 4 to June 1, 2025, this exhibition is co-organised by Handwerkskammer Berlin and the Chambre de métiers et de l’artisanat Île-de-France. It aims to illuminate various manual skills while invigorating mutual inspiration between artisans. The project encourages the sharing of craftsmanship knowledge, resulting in a dynamic exchange of creativity between the cities.
The exhibition will feature 39 selected pieces in Paris, covering jewellery, fashion, and sculpture, while Berlin will showcase 28 jury-selected works from a competition held earlier in 2024. Supported by Berliner Volksbank with €15,000 in prize money, the initiative is under the patronage of Joe Chialo, the Berlin Minister for Culture, ensuring a celebration of exceptional talent in the arts and crafts community.
