Kim Petras and Dua Lipa Shine at Madam Tussauds Berlin Unveiling

On April 3rd, Berlin’s Madam Tussauds Wax Museum celebrated the unveiling of wax figures for Grammy-winning artists Kim Petras and Dua Lipa, alongside German rapper Kontra K. This joyous occasion marked a significant milestone for these renowned musicians, further immortalising their contributions to the music industry in stunning detail.

Kim Petras, who made history in 2023 as the first openly transgender woman to win the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group with Sam Smith for their hit “Unholy,” expressed her delight, stating, “The highlight of my career has been my wax figure at Madam Tussauds.” She’s now the second trans woman to receive a wax figure, following actress Laverne Cox, unveiled in 2015.

The meticulous process of crafting Petras’ wax figure was captured on film, revealing the extensive effort required to replicate her likeness. For four hours, Petras collaborated with the museum’s technicians, taking measurements and creating moulds while dressed in her striking “Unholy” performance attire, ensuring authenticity in every detail.

Dua Lipa, meanwhile, expands her legacy with this latest figure, marking her third at Madam Tussauds. Having previously been honoured with figures in Orlando and Istanbul, Lipa’s statuettes share a characteristic pose and stylish outfits, echoing the custom Mugler bodysuit she wore during her 2021-2022 Future Nostalgia Tour, which earned her a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

The wax figures of both Kim Petras and Dua Lipa, alongside Kontra K, are now part of the immersive experience at Berlin’s Madam Tussauds, joining the ranks of other musical icons like Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson, allowing fans to marvel at these entrancing likenesses.
