Fourth Annual Silver Linings Wellness Workshop for Seniors

As spring unfurls its blossoms, the much-anticipated fourth annual Silver Linings Senior Workshop is on the horizon. Scheduled for Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Tuckerton, this free health and wellness event teams up with Stockton University to cater to the wellness needs of seniors in the community.

The inspiration for Silver Linings came from Denise Theiler, MSN, RN, a member of the church’s mission team, aiming to assist seniors in preserving their independence and well-being. By providing essential health screenings locally, the initiative promotes self-care and safety for seniors living at home.

Volunteers like Jill DeFelice highlighted that “Care of local seniors is a big part of our mission.” The event is distinguished by its expansion to include free bi-monthly health lectures led by local nurse practitioners on various topics, from diabetes to home safety.

Designed for seniors aged 55 and older, the workshop provides an enriching day filled with health screenings like balance checks, hearing evaluations, and blood pressure assessments. Participants can also immerse themselves in self-care practices including creative activities, meditation, massage, and chair yoga. Furthermore, seniors with hearing aids can have their devices checked.

A delicious hot lunch, along with a nutritionist’s demonstration, is on the menu, with meals served at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m.; prior reservation is needed. Attendees will be greeted with a delightful swag bag and stand a chance to win a beautifully quilted door prize that features designs crafted during last year’s event.

While the event welcomes all seniors, participation is limited to 90 individuals, making early registration advisable. Interested parties can register via email at fpctuckerton@gmail.com or by calling 609-296-8894.
