In Yemen, HUMAN ACCESS is championing women’s rights through its project “Providing Livelihood Services for the Most Vulnerable Women and Girls,” funded by the UNFPA. This initiative aims to shield women from the escalating threats to their progress and ensure their active engagement in all facets of life.
On International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8th, a spirited dialogue session titled “Moving Forward Together: Women Educate and Inspire Generations” took place in Aden Governorate, attracting 25 women. The discussion centred on the local challenges they face and strategies for overcoming these obstacles, reinforcing the importance of women’s rights and empowerment.
Meanwhile, Marib Governorate hosted a vibrant three-day celebration of International Women’s Day in Al-Wadi District, led by notable figures such as Ms. Sa’ada Aqar and Ms. Soqatra Al-Baqma. Activities included community education, distribution of informative brochures, field visits to women in displacement camps, and the provision of much-needed dignity kits to vulnerable women.
A focus group discussion engaged ten women human rights activists, spotlighting the crucial role of women and the enhancement of their rights. Additionally, 14 humanitarian pioneers and active members of community committees were recognised for their contributions to economic empowerment.
Further educating the community on women’s issues, discussions also touched upon livelihood training for women and girls and an analysis of market needs, involving 17 women in Al-Mujamma. In Al-Rawdah and Al-Mil camps, another dialogue centred on dignity kits, involving 15 beneficiaries, sought to evaluate their quality and distribution, aiming to uplift the lives of the nation’s most vulnerable women and girls.
HUMAN ACCESS is implementing initiatives in Yemen aimed at enhancing women’s rights, particularly through the project funded by UNFPA. Activities include dialogue sessions, community awareness campaigns, focus group discussions, and the distribution of dignity kits. Celebratory events for International Women’s Day brought together women activists and community leaders to address women’s empowerment and challenges while honouring those leading humanitarian efforts.
In conclusion, HUMAN ACCESS, with the support of UNFPA, is fervently working to empower women in Yemen amidst challenging circumstances. Through educational discussions, community initiatives, and the provision of essential resources, they strive to enhance women’s rights and foster their involvement in society. The efforts demonstrated on International Women’s Day highlight the ongoing commitment to uplift and honour the contributions of women across Yemen, laying the groundwork for a more equitable future.
