Gargaon College’s Annual Rally Celebrates Assam’s Cultural Heritage

Gargaon College celebrated its annual college week for 2024-25 in a vibrant showcase of cultural diversity through a lively rally. Retired Physics Head, Tolakhi Senchowa, inaugurated the rally, underscoring the crucial need to preserve Assam’s cultural legacy amid rapid modernisation and global influences. He urged the youth to take an active role in upholding the heritage woven from various ethnic communities, particularly the Assamese.

Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, praised the remarkable organisation by students across departments. Judging the rally was a distinguished panel including Vice-Principal Diganta Konwar, and professors Dr Dilip Kumar Deka, Dr Meghali Borah, and Mina Robidas. Their evaluative insight added an academic dimension to the festive atmosphere, celebrating creativity while recognising the social responsibilities reflected in students’ performances. The event not only highlighted the youthful creativity but reaffirmed the importance of cultural pride in today’s ever-changing world.
