On Tuesday, February 11, the Economics Building will come alive as we unveil a stunning new public art installation in its lobby. This gathering invites economics enthusiasts—majors, minors, graduate students, art lovers, UNM alumni, faculty, staff, and friends alike—to immerse themselves in creativity and conversation. Attendees will have the chance to hear insights about the artwork from Arif Khan, the esteemed director of the UNM Art Museum and chair of the Public Art Committee, while mingling over light refreshments.
The new installation replaces vital pieces that previously graced the UNM Humanities Building, now set for demolition and rebuild after a successful capital bonds approval. This treasure trove includes 13 exceptional works from the vibrant ’70s and ’80s, showcasing five remarkable pieces by the celebrated abstract artist Harry Nadler. Additionally, this event will serve a dual purpose as a fundraiser, aiming to commission a new mural that promises to enrich the campus aesthetic.
Your support makes all the difference and is wholeheartedly welcomed as you contribute to our mural fund. For more details and to RSVP, your presence is highly appreciated, ensuring we commemorate this pivotal event together! Immerse yourself in the spirit of art and academia, where ideas flourish in the beautiful intersection of economics and creativity.
