As part of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Spring Centers Initiative, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) delivered a series of impactful lectures on fundamental human rights. These sessions reached approximately 1,000 male and female students across 16 schools, fostering awareness about essential rights in a nurturing educational environment.
NHRC’s outreach included special lectures for six boys’ schools: Khalifa Secondary, Abdullah Bin Ali Al Misnad Preparatory, Mohammad Bin Abdulwahhab Secondary, Ali Bin Jassim Bin Mahmood Al-Thani Secondary, Jaber Bin Hayyan Primary, and Osama bin Zaid Preparatory. Additionally, lectures were conducted at seven girls’ institutions: Al Markhiya Primary, Al Ekhlas Model, Sawda bint Zam’a Preparatory, Al Khor Primary, Maria Al-Qibtiyya Preparatory, Fatima Bint Al Waleed Preparatory, and Umm Salama Primary.
Hamad Al Hajri, Director of NHRC Programs and Education, praised the Ministry’s initiative, linking its objectives to fostering a human rights culture on school campuses. Insisting that promoting this culture contributes to preventing future violations, he emphasized it as a vital investment in building a just society that upholds and respects human rights for all.
Al Hajri noted that embedding human rights principles in students is paramount, as schools serve as supportive venues for this vital education. By imparting human rights skills, students become more aware of both their rights and responsibilities, while the lectures equipped them with a thorough understanding of human rights instruments, duties, and relevant principles.
Highlighting the universality of human rights, Al Hajri explained that these rights encompass every individual’s freedoms without discrimination. He insisted that it is crucial for students to understand their responsibilities towards their families, communities, and the greater world, ensuring they uphold these responsibilities to contribute positively to society.
The lectures also addressed international charters defining both rights and duties. Al Hajri reminded students that everyone has a role in respecting and safeguarding the rights of all within the community. This awareness is essential in preserving human dignity and freedom.

With most individuals engaged online, navigating potential threats becomes paramount.
