In celebration of International Human Rights Day, the NAVIGATOR online game captivated over 50,000 players, showcasing youth’s impressive grasp of human rights topics with an average accuracy of 70%. This interactive experience, running for two weeks starting December 10, aimed to educate and test citizens on crucial human rights issues, highlighting their role in shaping a future committed to justice and equality.
The game featured 300 thought-provoking questions across nine vital themes: health, environment, children’s rights, European Convention on Human Rights, discrimination, human trafficking, consumer rights, asylum and migration, and data protection. Designed to foster awareness amidst a backdrop of rising global conflicts and authoritarianism, NAVIGATOR specifically targeted young people, emphasizing that a robust respect for human rights is essential for societal progress and peace.
Created by the EU, in collaboration with the UN Office, the Ministry of Education and Science, and young Macedonian activists, the project aimed to merge gaming with educational outreach. The Macedonian Young Lawyers’ Association crafted the questions, while Galactic Omnivores infused the game with creativity. The anticipation peaked as winners were announced through a random drawing on December 25, rewarding participants with vouchers for tech gear and other prizes generously provided by EU embassies.
